Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Mary Grace began working in residential mental health after graduating the University of Oregon in 1998 with degrees in Spanish Literature and Political Science. The joy and challenge of working with uniquely talented individuals struggling with severe and persistent mental illness led her to pursue her Master's Degree in Social Work at Portland State University. She interned at Lane County Mental Health and Sacred Heart Hospital and graduated in 2004. A love of hospice work and music brought her into a Music Thanatology Program which she did not complete. Though incomplete, her time in that program began a life-long study of prescriptive music. She currently plays for patients on service with Signature Hospice. She has worked for Peace Health since 2004 including 3 years working with cardiac patients at various points in their journeys and 6 years in the Emergency room with the most demographically diverse population. In addition to offering counseling therapy, she works part time on a medical unit primarily serving elders, people with health consequences stemming from addiction and poverty, and people in mental health crisis with acute medical needs. Her aspiration in healing practice is to help people find and use their strengths and hopes so they can be their best selves.
